Rev. Dr. Virgil Lee Courts, 79, of Milton, WV, passed away July 6, 2025. He was born August 10, 1945, in Huntington, WV, son of the late Eldon and Eloise Black Courts. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Diana Hall Courts and father-in-law, Forest F. Faulkner. Virgil graduated from Milton High School, and graduated from Howard Payne University, and was called into the Ministry in 1972. He received a Masters Degree and Doctor of Divinity from the International Bible Institute and Seminary, Orlando, FL and received a Doctor of Theology from the Gulf Coast Seminary, Panama City, FL. He served in the ministry for over 45 years, pastoring in Florida, Missouri, Georgia, South Carolina and then West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Faulkner Courts; one daughter, Tiffany Courts Vargo (Russell) of Myrtle Beach, SC; one son, Shawn Courts (Kaori) of Summersville, SC; three sisters, Patricia Lewis (Homer) of Milton, Sandra Underwood (Frank) of Florida, and Robin Rogers (Don) of Milton; two grandchildren, Bailey Courts and Cecilia Spencer (Hunter); mother-in-law, Dortha Faulkner; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
