
Gerald Sidney Keeney, 90, of Milton, WV, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, at his home, surrounded by comfort and warmth snuggled up by his wood burner, just as he loved. He was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Doris Jean Keeney. Gerald was born on May 20, 1935, in Barboursville, WV, the son of the late Sidney Berthel Keeney and Eulah Garnett Songer Keeney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Keeney, and one sister, Sharon Yvonne Bates. Gerald was a proud United States Army veteran and a hard-working man who overcame many challenges throughout his life with resilience, determination, and quiet strength. He was known for his remarkable ability to build or fix anything with his hands a true craftsman who could always find a way to get the job done. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially fishing, gardening, sitting on the swing, bird watching, and piddling in the garage, where countless projects and memories were made. Above all, Gerald deeply loved his wife, his children, and his family. He was a devoted father, a cherished Pawpaw, and a proud great-grandfather who was dearly loved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by four children: Jerry Dale Keeney and his son Adam Dale Keeney; Jeffery Keeney and his children Jeff Keeney and Charity Perry (Corey); Leigh Anne Clendenin (Joe) and their children Jaramy Clendenin and Elizabeth Clendenin; and Lisa Gilpin and her children Sidney Williamson and Brittany Williamson; along with many great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, with burial to follow at Forest Memorial Park, Milton.
