1942 - 2026

Philip C. HardimanOur rock, Philip C. Hardiman, 83, left this world on Saturday, July 18, 2026, to be reunited in Heaven with the love of his life, Donna, his beloved wife of 62 years, just 101 days after her passing—a love story that continues beyond this life.

Philip was born on August 8, 1942, to Walter and Melba Hardiman. He was preceded in death by his parents; his cherished wife, Donna; and his brothers, Jim, David, and Mark.

He was a 1960 graduate of Barboursville High School, where he met Donna Legge, the girl who would become his lifelong sweetheart. They married and built a beautiful life together centered on faith, love, and family. Together they raised three children, Ryan, Kelly, and Erin, who cherished their love and the wonderful childhood they provided them. Kelly and Erin are especially grateful to Ryan for the live-in, loving care he provided in order for them to remain in their dream log home until the very end.

Philip worked as a draftsman throughout his career and retired from Special Metals. He believed in doing every job well and carried that same dedication into every aspect of his life. Whether he was meticulously caring for his lawn, tending a garden, tackling home improvement projects, researching his family's genealogy, or adding to his collections, he found great satisfaction in preserving, creating, and caring for the things that mattered most.

His greatest joy, however, was his family. He was a proud grandfather to Chloe, Joey, Jordan, Jenna, Celeste, and Chelsea and at Christmas welcomed a great-granddaughter, Noelle. Whether offering a helping hand, words of encouragement, or simply being present, his family always knew he would do anything for the people he loved.

Philip also held a special place in his heart for his large extended family. His brothers- and sisters-in-law were among his dearest friends, and family gatherings were some of his happiest moments.

Philip was a steady source of wisdom, strength, and unconditional love to all. He was more than a husband, father, grandfather, brother, or friend—he was their rock. His quiet strength, humility, devotion, and love shaped the lives of everyone blessed to know him.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Philip C. Hardiman will be held at Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22 at 10:00 a.m., followed by an 11:00 a.m. service officiated by his son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Timothy Waugh, and granddaughter, Jenna. Philip will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Donna, in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for their love and care.
