Mary Katherine (Bledsoe) Fortner died peacefully on August 17, 2026 surrounded by her loving family and immediately entered her heavenly home welcomed by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Kathie was born in Madison, WV to the late Lambert and Geneva Bledsoe. She graduated in 1967 from Barboursville High School. It was then that she met and married her sweetheart, Harold Fortner. They were happily married 59 years and had two daughters, Terrie Grace (Grant) and Wendy Trotter (Chaz); and four grandchildren, Emily King (Schuyler), Jacob Holland (Megan), Maddie Holland and Bradley Trotter. She is also survived by siblings, Betty White (Bill) and David Bledsoe (Charlene).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Pinkerman and granddaughter, Holly Anne Trotter.
Kathie was a member of St. Mary’s First Baptist Church. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and she shared this gift all her life regularly as a choir member and church soloist. She was a talented crafter and quilter and left her friends and family with many treasured heirlooms of which to remember her.
Although her friends and family are devastated by her loss, we rejoice in the knowledge that we will be together in heaven one day where we never will be parted again.
If love could have kept her alive, she would have lived forever.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2026 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville with funeral services following at 1 p.m. with Rev. Rick Keesee officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
