 Harold Edward Rakes Sr., 82, of Milton, WV, passed away January 21, 2026. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Christus Mausoleum by Pastor Tracy Call. He was born August 25, 1943, in Kenova, WV, a son of the late Willie and Gladys Combs Rakes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during Vietnam. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margarett Ann Crockett Rakes and brothers, Donald Rakes and Larry Rakes. He is survived by his daughter, Tanya Stricklin of Milton; son Harold Rakes Jr. (Paulette) of Kenova; brothers, Lowell “Odie” Rakes (Jana) of Columbia, SC and Willie Rakes Jr. of Greenup, KY; and grandchildren Katlin, Emily, and Trey Stricklin. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday at the cemetery. Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, is assisting the family with arrangements. Tanya, it seems so unfair to loose both parents so close together, I cannot help but think thats how they wanted it. May you take comfort in knowing you gave them the very best care possible. I know they are proud of you and know the strength and love it took to do that. God opened up his arms and welcomed them both home.
