When the family moved to San Marcos, Helen graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in 1936. Her first job was teaching Physical Education at a small high School near Alice, Texas. When she and Pancho retired in 1965 they moved to Kerrville, Texas and became frequent trailer travelers visiting the Gulf Coast and the far West. When not in residence at Three Hills Mobile Home Park, Helen and her husband, were traveling and attending Elder Hostel programs arouund the country. Helen's favorites always centered around art. She enjoyed painting landscapes and in reccent years blessed many friends with her "sun catchers." An especially proud moment was the winning of a contest which enabled Helen to have coffee with Fred Gipson, local author of the classic "Old Yeller." She was also proud of "her" team the San Antonio Spurs. Helen never missed watching a game, nor the opportunity to decorate her walls with Spur headlines and pictures. It is said that she even organized pep rallies for "her" team. Helen was a people person and gave herself to the community and friends in numerous ways.
