Gilbert Artie Barton JrGilbert Barton went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006 at the San Antonio, Texas VA hospital. He was born on June 13, 1926 in St. Landry, LA to Gilbert Barton and Annie Mae (Whatley) Barton. Gilbert married Ruby LeJeun on Feb. 04, 1950 in Jennings, LA. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Korea and was honorable discharged in 1955. He was a part of the 34th bomb squad which is now the Thunder Birds. He was a life member of the VFW. Gilbert was a member and a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Ingram. He retired from Gray Tool in Houston and then from Mooney Aircraft in Kerrville. He moved to Mountain Home in 1981.

Gilbert is survived by his children Wayne Barton and wife Brenda of Houston, Texas, Ronald Barton of Mountain Home, Texas and Sharon Carlson of Jamestown, New York; sister Yvonne Webb of Houston, Texas; 4 grandchildren Bri Ana, McKayla, Wesley, Sawyer and Micah and many other family members and friends who love him will miss him. He is preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Annie Mae Barton, wife Ruby Barton and grandson David. Funeral services will be held 11am, Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 at The First Baptist Church in Ingram, Texas with Pastor Jimmy Allan officiating the services. Interment will be 1pm, Monday, Feb. 13, 2006 at San Jacinto Cemetery in Houston, Texas with Military Honors.

I am so sorry for your loss. Gilbert was a good christan man and will be missed by so many. I knew him from church.He always had a smile and a hello. God Bless!
