
Willie Sykes Jr. at the age of 80 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at his home in Kerrville, Texas. He was born on July 20, 1925 in Kerrville, Texas to Willie Sykes Sr. and Ada Dimery. Willie married Eloise Jones on May 26, 1979 in San Antonio, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 til 1946. Willie went on to work for the State Hospital in Austin, Texas and then the United Methodist Church in the Janitorial department. He was a member of the Barnett Chapel Methodist Church of Kerrville, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his partents Willie Sr. and Ada Irene Nelson and one daughter.
Willie is survived by his wife of 26 years Eloise Sykes of Kerrville, Texas; 3 sons Robert Sykes Sr. and wife Sandra of Ft. Worth, Texas, Lawrence E. Sykes Sr. of Kerrville, Texas and Willie Sykes III and wife April of Alumet Park, Illinois; 2 daughters Ruthie Sykes of Austin, Texas and Ada Sykes of Torrance, California; extend family Viola, Samuel, Marvin Brown; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, brother in laws and many other family members and friends will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be 10am til 8pm Monday, May 1, 2006 at Wright's Funeral Parlor in Kerrville, Texas with the family greeting guest from 6pm til 8 pm.
Funeral services will be 10am, Tuesday,May 02, 2006 at Wright's Funeral Parlor in Kerrville, Texas with Rev. Willie Jackson and Rev. James Wilson officiating the services. Interment will be 2:15pm, Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Ft. Sam National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas with Military honors.
Pallbears will be Anthony Burks, Kenneth Burks, Douglas Burks, Willie Sykes III, Robert Sykes, Robert Sykes Jr., Lawrence Sykes Sr. Honorary Pallbears Floyd Lewis, Roy Neal, Charles Shaw Jr., Vernon Shields, Joe Lewis and Marvin Brown.
