Dorothy Eckman Henderson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, after a short illness. She was born on October 29, 1909 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Victor Eckman and Lillian Bjorkland Eckman. Dorothy was a legal secretary in St. Paul, Chicago, Panama Canal Zone and the Philippines where she met her husband Donald who was a U.S. Army officer. She was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church. Dorothy married Donald Henderson on March 28, 1948 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Dorothy had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling, camping and trailering. She liked to play bridge and was also an accomplished artist, spending many hours with a paintbrush in her hand. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Gordon Eckman, sister Glady's Carlson.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 58 years Donald H. Henderson of Kerrville, daughter Therese Henderson of Canada; two granddaughters Deverie Gifford and Hannah Gifford both of Canada.
Memorial services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Parson House Chapel (135 Plaza Dr.) with Pastor Herbert Willke officiating the services.
