1925 - 2007
John Edward Gascoigne at the age of 81 passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at his home in Kerrville, Texas. He was born on April 27, 1925 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Claud Gascoigne and Pauline Conyers Gascoigne. Following graduation from Phillip High School he served in the U.S. Navy, including a tour of duty in Japan at the conclusion of World War II. He then attended and graduated from the University of Miami, Florida. His career in business carried him back to South Dakota and thereafter through many assignments and transfers in the Midwest, ultimately settling in Houston, Texas in 1959 for an extended period in the newly emerging and expanding computer industry. Following moves in 1969 to Minneapolis and thereafter to Los Angeles. Jack returned to Houston to be near his children and grandchildren in the mid 1980's. He and his wife Leona relocated to Kerrville in 2000, and became members of Kerrville Bible Church. Using their new home base as a springboard they pursued their passion of RV vacationing in their retirement years. He is preceded in death by his parents.
John is survived by his wife Leona Gascoigne of Kerrville, Texas; sister Jill Baker of Huron, South Dakota; 2 sons John Gascoigne and wife Neva of Houston, Texas and Gary Michael Gascoigne of College Station; daughter Tondi Jean Rice and husband Don of Princeton, New Jersey; 4 grandchildren Sean and Michelle Gascoigne, Matthew and Erik Gudelman; 4 great grandchildren Emily Gascoigne, Zachary Gudelman, Brandon Gascoigne, and Ethan Fannin and many other family members and friends who love him will miss him.
Memorial services will be held 11am, Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 at Kerrville Bible Church with Pastor Chris McKnight officiating the services.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Vista Care Hospice of Kerrville, Texas.
