1940 - 2008
Edward "Ed" Collazo Ayala Sr. at the age of 67 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008 at a local care center. He was born on May 07, 1940 in Kerrville, Texas to Trinitad Ayala and Esther (Collazo) Ayala. Ed at the young age of twelve, went to Wyoming to shear sheep and back to Kerrville, he did this for many years. Ed married Guadalupe Sedillo on July 22, 1960 in Kerrville, Texas. He took many different jobs to help support his family- as a migrant worker in Michigan, Illinois, and Hereford, Texas, as well as a sheep shearer, a guide for hunters and fishermen at Red Top Ranch, a cook at the State Hospital, a maintenance person for Schreiner's- but he found his greatest love in carpentry work at Riverhills, and later for James Avery in 1990's when he built and installed many of the display cases in new Avery stores all across the country. Ed loved to hunt, fishing with his children. Big John (the donkey) was an equal member of the family, transporting the "goods" of the hunters whenever necessary. Whether at work or play, he set a strong example for his family, with a love for life, whatever it brought him. Edward was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Edward is survived by his wife of 47 years Guadalupe Ayala of Kerrville; daughter Ester Ramirez of Kerrville; sons Edward Ayala Jr of Brady, TX, Roger Ayala of Kerrville, Robert Ayala of Ft. Worth and Daniel Ayala of Bulberde, TX.; 20 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 1 brother, 2 sisters and many other family members and friends who love him will miss him. May he find rest in the arms of another carpenter's Son.
Visitation will be held 2pm till 6pm , Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, with a Rosary will be recited at 6 pm, at Wright's Funeral Parlor (1913 Junction Hwy. Kerrville, TX. 78028).
Funeral Mass 9:30 am, Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville with Father officiating the services, Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Kerrville.
