1933 - 2008
Kenneth Charles Utz at the age of 74 passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the San Antonio VA hospital. He was born on July 7, 1933 in Pratt, Kansas to Kenneth Carl Utz and Ora Lee "Comer" Utz. Kenneth attended grade school in Pratt High school at Ponca Military Academy in Ponca City, OK, he graduated in 1952 went in to the U.S Marines. He served in Korea in 1953 for 5 months and 21 days, then he served in Hawaii for 4 years. Kenneth left the Marines in 1957 and returned to Pratt, attended Pratt Collage and worked in the Utz Flower Shop. He married Pat Armstrong in 1962. Kenneth then went on to work for J.C. Penny's as a asst. manager in 1964, then became the store manager of Montgomery Ward. He worked as a store Manager in 13 different stores, the district manager in Southern IL, Eastern Mo, Western Ky and in Tennessee. Kenneth left Wards in 1984 and went to work for General Manger of Farring Aircraft in Paducah, Ky. He left Farring Aircraft in 1991 and went to manage a store for Alco. Kenneth retired in 1995 and moved to Kerrville, Tx. He worked from 1996 till 2006 as a jailer at the Kerr County Sheriff department. He was a member of the Kerrville VFW Post 1480 and the bingo manager there. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Kenneth is survived by a sister Valeria Stockwell of Pratt, Kansas; nephews Walter Stockwell of Coats, Kansas and David Dunn of Las Vegas, NV.; nieces Sue Stultz, Edith Griffin both of Kansas and Ginger Bledsoe of NV and many other family members and friends who love him will miss him.
Memorial services will be held 2pm, Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the VFW and Interment will be held at Ft. Sam National Cemetery in San Antonio at a late date.
