1921 - 2008
Dolly Marie Kendell at the age of 87 passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 at a local care center. She was born on Aug. 12, 1921 in Richmond, Missouri to Frank Switzer and Ethel "Ross" Switzer. Dolly was a Roman rider and cowgirl in the rodeo circuit in the Western US. She toured the United States, side by side with her husband, on their motorcycles. Dolly owned and operated a gift shop in Harper and had made the Hill Country her home since the early 1980's. Although she never had children of her own, she adored her nieces and children of all ages, showering them with gifts and love. She also loved animals and was particularly proud of her "pocket dog" Tatoo, and the pony of her childhood, Tony. Dolly was also a writer and poet, leaving behind many writings about her life and her love of God. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 18 years Howard Lester Kendell, a sister Barbara Kearbuy.
Dolly is survived by her "second and third Musketeer's" Lari Aycock and Lisa Marshall, friend and Peterson Hospice volunteer Louise Wood and many other family members and friends who love her will miss her.

Thank you to the staff of B wing and residents of Hilltop Village for caring about Dolly, with special thanks to Pam Morey and Susie Nichols who made her life particularly fun and filled with laughter. Thank you to Edie Jessup, FNP and Milton Shaw MD for their care, but particularly recognizing that there is a time to acknowledge that a person is tired and needs only comfort.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
