1928 - 2008

Edwin (Ed) Robert Alcorn at the age of 80 died peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 20, 2008 in Kerrville, Texas. He was born on May 13, 1928 in Hay Springs, NE. to Raymond and Gertrude Alcorn. Edwin married the love of his life Marilyn Steele on August 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 and following his discharge, attended Nebraska State Teachers College in Chadron, Ne. Following graduation from college, Ed began a 34 year career with the Federal Government as a Civilian Personnel Officer and Employee Development Officer. Most of Ed's career was spent serving the Department of the Army and he was stationed at numerous facilities including Arizona, hawaii and Germany. Ed and Marilyn moved to the Kerrville area in 1991 and became active in the square dance community. In addition to dancing Ed enjoyed singing with the community chorus and quartets. He is preceded in death by his parents. Edwin is survived by his wife of 59 years Marilyn Alcorn of Kerrville, Texas; 3 sons Steve, Mike and Dave; six grandchildren and many other family members and friends who love him will miss him. Memorial services will be held at 11am, Friday, January 9, 2009 at Kerrville Funeral Home with Chaplain Rusty Hancock officiating the services. A reception will follow services. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Ed's honor to the American Cancer Society.
