Henry D. Westbrook "Bampa" at the age of 77 now resting in his Lord's hands on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the VA hospital in Kerrville, Texas. He was born on Oct. 22, 1931 in Lufkin, Texas to Jonas and Bessie Westbrook. Henry graduated from Rusk High School and joined the Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches and began working at the Citizens State Bank in Rusk as a cashier and later as vice-president. Henry moved to Huntington where he was employed as vice president at the Huntington State Bank for two years, then returned to Citizens Bank. married Lana King. Henry later was named manager and chief financial officer of the Cherokee County Teachers Credit Union until his retirement in 1994. He was Commander of the National Guard Unit in Rusk, served as president of the Loins Club and deacon at the First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Joy Dover Westbrook and sister Barbara Ann Felder Westbrook. Henry is survived by his wife Lana Westbrook of Kerrville, Texas; sons Jeffrey Westbrook and Rodney Westbrook; daughters Angie Petersen and Becky Rodgers; sisters Sue Kyle and Wanda Norman; brother David Westbrook; many nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends who love him will miss him. Memorial services will be held 10 am, Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Rusk, Texas with Rev. Grover Talbert officiating the services and Military honors. Interment will be at the Rusk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Veterans Administration or the First Baptist Church of Rusk.
