John Elwyn ChurchillJohn Elwyn Churchill at the age of 85 went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 03, 2009 at the VA hospital in Kerrville Texas. He was born on June 07, 1923 in Pleasanton, Texas to Joseph and Berta "Lusk" Churchill. John served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 until 1951. He was a real estate salesman for most of his life in and around Kerr County. John married Alma Sincleair on June 08, 1949 in Crystal City, Texas. He was a member of Kerrville First Baptist Church. John loved to sing he was in many men quartet and the Rotary Clubs and he sang in the choir at Kerrville First Baptist Church for many years he had a beautiful voice. He is preceded in death by his parents and 9 siblings. John is survived by his wife of 59 years Alma Churchill of Kerrville, Texas; son Loren and wife Jamie Churchill of Boerne, Texas; grandson Sean Churchill of Boerne, Texas and many other family members and friends who loved him will miss him. Memorial services will be held 10:30am, Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Kerrville First Baptist Church with Dr. Harris officiating the services. Military Burial will be held at Ft. Sam National Cemetery in San Antonio with Military honors.

While I always enjoyed hearing John sing and tell stories of life in south Texas and Carrizo Springs, my most precious memory is when John led my friend Mike to faith in Jesus. Many will forever be grateful for the life of John Churchill, especially me.

John will be missed by many. I always enjoyed his stories about his life in South Texas as a young man. John always had a story to tell! My condolences to his family.
