1947 - 2010
Robert W. Randle at the age of 62 left this earthly life for his next journey on Monday, March 15, 2010 at a Kerrville, Texas hospital. Bob, as he was affectionately known by his friends and family, touched the lives of many people and places, and left a legacy that leaves a smile on his friends and family when they remember him. He was born on Oct. 19, 1947 in Mission, Texas to James Harold and Jacqueline "Ward" Randle who preceded him in death. As a young man he worked side by side with his father on the family ranch in Hidalgo County. He was a military reservist, a policeman in Brownsville, a U.S./ Border patrolman in Laredo and worked as a tax preparer for 25 years. He married Joyce McKeon on July 22, 1981. They were blessed with 2 sons, Patrick and Andrew.
The family moved to Kerrville in 1988.
Bob was an Eagle Scout in his youth, and shared his love of scouting by serving as Cub Master and part of the troop committee for Troop 1 here in Kerrville. Both his sons became Eagle Scoots and continued the scouting tradition. Bob served as the President of the Board of his church, the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Hiil Country. As a founding member of the church, he contributed to its growth from 12 members to 53 members over a 15 year period; he gave much time and energy to the physical building of the church, and worked tirelessly to help anyone in his church family. As one member so eloquently put it, "Bob always had our back".
He was Vice President of the Mounted Peace Officers Association, and a member of the Retired Border Patrol Association.
Bob is survived by his wife of 28 years Joyce Randle of Kerrville; 2 sons Patrick Randle and Andrew Randle and many other family members and friends who love him will miss him.
Memorial services to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 2pm, Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the UU Church of the Hill Country (960 Barnett St. Kerrville, Texas 78028).
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Bob's name to the UU Church of the Hill Country.

Bob, you will be truly missed. You were a kind and thoughtful gentleman. You were a man of few words but you had a powerful presence. The compassion you showed for your father-in-law was remarkable. He seemed much calmer when you would bring him to the hospital. Yes, Bob you had our back. The world would be a better place with more like you , but perhaps that's what made you so very special. Go in peace my brother.

My condolences on your great loss. I worked with Bob when we were field agents in Laredo. I always enjoyed working with him and learn a lot about the work of Border Patrol. I only have good memories about our days working in Laredo Sector Border Patrol. He was truly a good man.

I was saddened to hear of bob's passing. My heart goes out to Joyce, Patrick, and Andrew. I married my wife in a ceremony at the Randle house. Bob and Joyce bought me a suit for the occasion, I have always been grateful for that and it really showed what kind of guy Bob was. I will always have that memory, Thank you Joyce and Bob.

Bob was truly one of a kind. His rather gruff demeanor more often than not gave way to a heart of gold who, when asked, would go out of his way to help anyone and everyone. His expertise could always be counted upon whether resolving construction or financial issues. He spearheaded the establishment of the U.U. Church of the Hill Country and served in numerous board positions for the past fifteen years. Bob was not only an outstanding Kerrville citizen but was, in many ways, a renaissance man who was quick to recognize and resolve many of lifes challenges that could often frustrate others. He will be sincerely missed by those he has touched in so many ways.
