
Vennett L. Stone, 99, passed away June 25, 2010, at her Hilltop Village Nursing Home residence. She was born in Stewart Village, McLeod County, Minn., on May 13, 1911, to the late Lester and Christine Richards, Vennett made her home in Kerrville for the past 25 years. Before moving to Hilltop Village Nursing Home, she resided at Three Hill Mobile Home Park. At age 18, she opened her first beauty salon and advanced in the industry, being a national representative for the Clairol Company, specializing in hair coloring. Vennett traveled the United States as a consultant, representing her company very well. Later, while working in New York, she became a consultant for celebrities such as Kitty Carlisle and Arlene Francis.
In her retirement years, she moved to Corpus Christi and raised Siamese cats and also enjoyed teaching parakeets to talk. Besides her parents, Vennett was preceded in death by her four brothers, Donald, Wallace, Richard and Warren Richards.
Survivors include her nieces, Marlys Burch of Elgin, Ill., and Marilyn Wilson of Sun City, Ariz.; nephew, Jim Richards of Buffalo Lake, Minn.; and sister-in-law, Marie Richards of Stewart, Minn. Also surviving are many local friends, including Cherie Chase, Pamela King, Pat Campbell and neighbors at Three Hills Mobile Home Park.
