Dessie F KesslerDessie Fern Bergman Kessler, born in Kahoka, MO June 16, 1918 died Wednesday, March 23, 2011. She lived most of her life in Lebanon, KY before moving to Kerrville in 2006. Dessie transferred her membership from the Lebanon United Methodist Church in 2006 to the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a director for the Marion County Savings and Loan Association. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Kessler, parents, Frank and Ada Bergman, four sisters, Stella Bergman, Nellie Brooks, Lola Boltz, and Loretta Wright, two brothers, Lawrence and Cliff.

Dessie is survived by her only son, Ronald Spiess and his wife Amy of Kerrville; brother Delbert his wife Vada of IL; sister Rovene Quigley of IN.

In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to Peterson Hospice, First United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice. A very special thank you to Dr. James Young, Peterson Hospice and the staff at the Sterling House of Kerrville.

A memorial service will be held at the Sterling House, 725 Leslie Drive, Kerrville on Wednesday, March 30th at 10:00 a.m. She will be buried at the Lebanon National Cemetery with her husband Robert in Lebanon, Kentucky.

Dessie was such a special lady and many of us in Lebanon still miss her very much. Our Thoreau Club was special to her and Dessie special to us.

Ronnie and family, so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Dessie, or better known as Dutch to family and friends, was truly a southern lady with just a touch of spice. We always enjoyed time spent with Bob and Dutch. She will truly be missed by all of us who loved her.
