1948 - 2011
Terry Lee Tenery, 63, of Kerrville, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 after a year long battle with Cancer. She was born March 8, 1948 in Holstein, Iowa, to Reynold and Dorothy (Lundberg) Martens, and was raised by her Mother and Step-Father, Darrell Dewey Schuttler. Terry spent her early childhood living in the Midwest and eventually moved to Texas with her family where she graduated from Lawrence Bell High School, Euless, Texas in 1966. On January 9, 1971, Terry married Morris Elvyn Tenery in Dallas, Texas. In 1977 Terry and her family moved to Kerrville to begin what would be a lifetime of residency for her and Morris. Terry and Morris spent many years self-employed in the restaurant equipment and service business. In 1987 Terry began working on her college education attending Schreiner College as a part time student. After many years of hard work, she graduated magna cum laude from Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, on mother's day in 1996, with a BBA in Business Management. Achieving this lifetime goal was one of Terry's proudest moments. In 2004 Terry, along with her daughter Traci, opened Liberty Tax Service in Kerrville and Ingram. She worked endless days and nights to prove herself as a successful business woman. In 2010, Terry was presented with the franchise Top Gun award as recognition for her hard work and dedication. Receiving that award was a crowning moment for Terry's success in the tax business. Throughout her years as a resident of Kerrville, Terry was active in the Kerr County Women's Chamber and Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce. She also spent many years volunteering at the Kerrville Easter Fest Chili & BBQ Cook-off. Terry's passion was attending chili cook-offs for chili, charity and fun. In 2004 she won 5th place at the Terlingua International Chili Cook-off and went on to win 2nd place in 2009. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family and was an avid RVer. Terry was preceded in death by her father Reynold Martens, stepfather, Darrell Schuttler, sister, Gail Mays, and stepson, Ronald Tenery.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Morris; mother, Dorothy Schuttler; son, Steve (Kelly) Tenery; daughters, Traci (Kyle) Bond, Tricia (Eddie) Byrom; stepson, Lee (Mandy) Tenery; grandsons, Justin (Katie) Tenery, Kyle (Maria) Tenery, Aric Simone, Zac Tenery; granddaughters, Tamara (Chris) Cain, Megyn (Shane) Irlanda , Emma Tenery; great grandsons, Liam and Brayden Irlanda; sisters, Shirley (Kent Bays) Geer, Barb (Stu) Voss, Steffoni (Phillip) Sharp, Rise Martens, Valori Forrester; brothers, Brad (Linda) Schuttler, Tom Martens; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Terry may be honored by donations to KCWC Scholarship Fund, PO Box 290621, Kerrville, TX 78029, or CASI Scholarship Fund, c/o Barbara Herrin, 7291 FM380, Paint Rock, TX 76866
A memorial to celebrate the life of Terry will be held Friday June 3, 2011, 2pm at Southern Oaks Baptist Church, 122 Valley View Dr, Kerrville, TX.

What a wonderful person Terry was! She has gone to a much better place, but will be missed by the many friends she had here in Kerrville. Question: since there is no work in heaven and Terry was such a really hard working person, whatever will she do! Such a giving person deserves the best. God bless you all.
