
David L. Holmes at the age of 72 passed away on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 at a Kerrville Texas hospital. He was born on November 01, 1938 in Hamilton Texas to Orville and Mildred "Smith" Holmes. David moved with his family to Ft. Worth Texas as a young teenager. He was a thoughtful, caring son, brother, uncle, husband and friend as well as a fun loving and entertaining individual. David loved sports as a kid and later excelled during his years at Carter Riverside High School during his years as quarterback and baseball pitcher. He enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, playing and cooking with the family. His friends and family will especially miss his creative letters and storytelling that were often included in his "Letters to the editor" and other venues. David worked for United Pacific Railroad out of Ft. Worth Texas for 43 years as a switchman. He married Sandra Laminack in 1999 after knowing each other for over 50 years. He is preceded in death by his father Orville Holmes and brother Warren Holmes.
David is survived by his loving wife of 12 years Sandra Holmes of Ingram, Texas; mother Mildred Roten of Ft. Worth, Texas; sister Judy Rice of Ft. Worth, Texas; niece Leslie Winterrowd and husband Danny and son Luke; nephew Scott Rice and wife Julie and son Beckett and many other family members and friends who love him will miss him.
