
Robert Glenn Barnett was born on September 29, 1927 in Springfield, IL. He left Springfield High School early to serve in the Navy during World War II. Robert was a nurse aboard the USS Rendova. When the war ended, he married and returned to Springfield. He owned and operated a filling station for many years and built and oversaw a mobile home park. Robert moved to Kerrville, TX in 1994 with the late Juanita Barnett, and resided at Rio Robles Mobile Home Park until he entered Sterling House of Kerrville Assisted Living in 2009. He enjoyed maintaining his home and his cars. Robert amassed a large collection of antique firearms and was very active with gun shows in the Kerrville area. He especially enjoyed motorcycling in the Hill Country. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Robert is survived by his three children, Barbara Ann Barnett of Duluth MN, Robert Michael Barnett of Plano, TX, Linda Susan Urban of Girard, IL, his brothers, James Andrew Shoaff of Newport Beach, CA, Thomas G. Shoaff Jr. of Mechanicsburg, IL and sister, Sandra Ann Nylas of Mechanicsburg, IL.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Sterling House of Kerrville for the love and support they gave Robert during his time with them.
Memorial services will be held 10am, Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Sterling House in Kerrville.
