
Elvira Stern Hooper passed away peacefully on Monday, April 30, 2012 in Kerrville, Texas. Elvira was born on September 6, 1929 in Williamson County, Texas to Lydia Rapp Stern and Charles G. Stern. Elvira graduated from Hutto High School as valedictorian. She attended Nixon Clay Business College in Austin and worked as a secretary before marrying Henry Hooper,
her high school sweetheart, in August 1949. Elvira and Henry joined the family dairy business in Hutto, Texas, after returning from Henry's military service in California. They moved to Kingsville in 1966, living there for 46 years, before
moving to the Comfort/Kerrville area in March 2012. Elvira was a homemaker, loving mother and friend. A member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she was active in the Women's Guild. Elvira loved growing flowers, was an expert seamstress and avid quilter. Most of all,
she adored her husband of 62 years, children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, Henry "Buddy" Hooper IV, parents, Lydia and C. G. Stern, and brother, Carl Stern.
Elvira is survived by her husband of 62 years, Henry P. Hooper III, son David Hooper (Janet) and daughter, Kathy Uhles (Perry), two grandsons, Jonathan Hooper and Steven Uhles, two granddaughters, Melissa Hooper and Katherine Uhles, brother Victor Stern (Bertha), numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 5th, 11 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran
Church. 521 E. Doddridge, Kingsville, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran
Church.
