Benjamin James BennettBenjamin James Bennett at the age of 84 passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at a Kerrville, Texas hospital. He was born on June 22, 1928 in Pasadena, California to Benjamin and Elsie (Crowell) Bennett. Ben served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1946 until 1948. After he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, he attended Texas A&M College before returning to Mexico, D. F. where he was employed in the family-owned construction business. Shortly there after, Jim and Sharon Cornelius were married in Fort Worth, Texas and spent the first four years of their marriage in Acapulco, Mexico where he was in charge of the construction of the Pierre Marquez Hotel,23 years late, after succeeding to sole ownership of Constructora Maya, the Bennett's moved back to Houston, Texas. Until his retirement in 2002, he was engaged as a construction consultant for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in numerous locations in Latin America on private short-term contracts. Jim and Sharon built a home in Santa Fe, New Mexico where they lived for six years before returning to the Texas Hill Country three years ago. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Marjory Bennett Carbia.

Benjamin is survived by his loving wife Sharon Bennett of Kerrville; 3 children Dr. Benjamin Bennett IV and wife Sarah Rabb of Dallas, TX., Stephanie Bennett Vogt and husband Jay of Concord, MA. and Martha Suzanne Bennett of Tucson, AZ.; granddaughter Camilla Vogt; sister Elizabeth Bennett of Duarte, CA.; and seven nieces and nephews.
