Condolences to Cherry,Susie,David, Michael,Matt & Lisa & families. Betty was my friend from the first moment I met her in 1983, when I traveled from PA to be interviewed by her. She had shingles at the time and met me at the airport, fully dressed, but in her bedroom slippers! She taught me so much, not just about librarianship, but about life. She had a keen sense of justice, and of kindness, and she was generous to many. She was one of the smartest women I ever knew, and had a great sense of humor. On the phone I was privileged to remind her that, even if her memory was not good, she was still smart and wonderful. I would share memories with her and, except on her worst days, could usually get her to laugh. I will always love her, and be grateful for her friendship and mentoring and all that she did for me. All of you as a family were always welcoming and kind to me, also, when I joined you for holidays when I could not go home to PA. Thank you. I pray your best memories of Betty may bring you comfort. My best to all of you. Lorraine (Job) Hopper-Wobst
