
Gerald Arthur Vegter,86, of Kerrville, Texas passed away on Sept 11, 2012 after a long battle with Parkinson's. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sept. 11, 1926 to Arthur Vegter and Esther Tacktor Vegter. He graduated from Boy's Trade and Technical High School in Milwaukee and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Betty Ann Raminger in Milwaukee on Dec. 1949 and began his 34 year career at the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company. After retirement, Jerry and Betty moved to Kerrville in October 1988. They became active members in the Elks Lodge being especially fond of helping on bingo nights. They also served together as volunteers at the Kerrville VA Hospital. He and Betty enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii. They also spent many weekends with family and friends at their travel trailer, parked at a lake near West Bend, WI. Jerry's hobbies included leather works and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents; son in law, Ronald McBride; brothers in law, Ralph Raminger and Eugene Thompson.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty Vegter; daughters Cheryl McBride and Karen Luebke and husband Richard; grandchildren, Heather Amsden and husband Paul, Erik McBride and wife Lauren, Ryan Luebke and wife Katie and Aaron Luebke and wife Sherry; great grandchildren, Justin Amsden, Cade, Morgan, Grant and Landon Luebke; sister in laws, Bernice Thompson and Gladys Raminger.
The family wishes to include a special thank you to all those who worked so hard to keep Jerry comfortable and well cared for during his battle with this devastating disease, especially his guardian angel, Kathleen.
Military Burial will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial National Cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin at a later date.
