Gary D. Hunt of Kerrville at the age of 80 passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Banner Gardens Hospice in Mesa, AZ. He was born on June 24, 1933, in Oberlin, Kansas to George and Julia "Ziebell" Hunt. Gary served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until his retirement in 1972. He served one combat tour in Vietnam. He married Sarah Caroline Finch on December 07, 1953, in Reno, Nevada. Gary was a devoted husband and father. He was a active member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, also the American Legion. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Maybelle Shorb, one grandchild, Amanda Hunt, and loving wife of 58 years, Sarah Hunt (2012).
Gary is survived by his seven loving children, Cynthia (Ron) Davis of KS, Harry (Patti) Hunt of TX, Kevin (Laurie) Hunt of KS, Trudi Hunt of TX, Geralyn (Mike) Cherry of MA, Brenda (Todd) Frank of AZ, and Kendra Chambers of CA; 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many other family members and friends who love and will miss him.
Graveside service with full military honors will be 10 am, Thursday, Aug 01, 2013, at Fort Sam Houston Military Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road San Antonio, Texas, 78209. (www.cem.va.gov)
