Merle "Sonny" M. Coulson, Jr. (76) of Ingram, TX, left this life peacefully to be with his Lord on the evening of September 20, 2013. He was married to Vicki Nickerson on December 18, 1977. Sonny was born in Peru, Indiana on June 30, 1937, near the Wabash River. He attended school in Logansport, Indiana, holding a 20 + year school record of a 4 minute 33 second mile. Upon graduating from High School 1955, Sonny joined the Army. After 3 tours in Vietnam and over 23 years of service, Sonny retired as a Master Sergeant. He moved to Ingram in 1994. Sonny is preceded in death by his sister, Jean Ann Dailey, brother, Mark Dinius, and step-father, Francis Dinius.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki of Ingram, his mother, Maxine Dinius of Tucson, AZ, son Michael of Albuquerque, NM, son Myron of Advance, NC, son Randy Tate of Truth or Consequences, NM, daughter Wendy Alise of Grapevine, TX, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Barrington and all of her staff, Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital, and the nurses and staff of Hilltop Village for all their compassion and care in his final days.
