1944 - 2014
 Martha Jean Stevens was born on August 5, 1944 to Marguerite Mae (Wendel) and Homer Lee Stevens. She grew up successfully in the small town of Harper, TX. She attended Shriner university and eventually graduated from the university of Texas at Austin. She moved to Houston and spent her first years teaching in the Houston independent school district. But seeking more adventure she moved to south Florida in 1969. There she met her husband Richard Thomas Leach and they were married. They then moved back to Texas and settled in south Austin. She taught elementary school a total of 34 years. In 1979 she had her first and only child Gwendolyn Elaine Leach who grew up in Austin. Her husband Richard passed away in 1998, they were married 22 years. Her daughter Gwen married in 2000 to David Matthews and gave her two grandchildren Tyler Blake Matthews and Levi West Matthews. She continued her passion for volunteering at Harper Independent School District and Harper library helping to found that organization in 2006. During which time she published the Harper news for 10 years.
She is survived by her aunt,Carrie Tarr, her sister,Kathryn Stevens,- and her daughter and son in law Gwen and David Matthews, grandchildren, Tyler and Levi Matthews, by her nephews Jonathan and Aaron Arehart. And many more cousins and very close friends.
Memorial services will be held at Wild Ride Ministries, Harper, TX on Sunday the 19th at 3:00 PM.

I am so sorry to hear about her passing. I loved her so much when I was a little girl growing up and watching her get dressed up for Rainbows. My heart is sad but I know she is in a better place. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
