EDITH MCKINNEY STRICKLAND

Edith McKinney Strickland, 79, of Silsbee, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2004.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Edith was born April 27, 1925 in Bronson, Texas to the late Rev. Albert McKinney and Myra Hall McKinney. She married the love of her life, James Strickland, January 15, 1944. They had one son, Don Strickland. She and Jim shared over sixty wonderful years together. Edith attended various Pentecostal churches over the years. After retirement, she and Jim moved back to Silsbee from Victoria and she attended the First Pentecostal Church as often as her health permitted.

Edith was such a loving and caring person to family and friends alike. She always seemed to find the time to do or say things to make everyone feel special. Although she suffered from ill health in her later days, she always maintained her sweet smile and attitude.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Percy and Albert McKinney and sister, Edna McKinney Denson.

She is survived by her husband, James (Jim) Strickland and son, Don Strickland of Silsbee; brothers, Martin McKinney and Pete McKinney both of Silsbee and Phillip McKinney of Houston; sisters, Martha Boothe of Plano and Myra Wedgeworth of Jasper, as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends who will cherish her memory.

Pallbearers will be Josh Elveston, Lynward (Nubbin) Cooper, Chris, Alan, Brandon and Shane McKinney.
