GERALDINE GATTIS
Geraldine Gattis of Evadale, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 27, 2004 at the age of 78. Geraldine was born on November 14, 1925 in Oakdale, LA to Wilburn and Nellie Strother. She had lived in Evadale for 45 years where she proudly was a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of Friendship
Baptist Church in Buna and a charter member of the Evadale Eastern Star. In past years, she had worked as a Sunday School teacher, WMU member, BYW, GA leader and choir member. She loved quilting, sewing and canning her garden vegetables.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004 at Friendship Baptist Church in Buna with interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oakdale, LA. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Valarin Gattis; daughters, Joyce Jones and husband Jimmy, Janet Gillentine and husband Earl all of Evadale; grandchildren, Dennis Reeves and wife Tammy, Aaron Gillentine and wife Angela all of Evadale, Leslie Ainsworth and husband Trey of Lufkin, Jason Gillentine of Tyler and Trent Jones of Liberty; brother, John Strother, of Oakdale, LA; sister, Peggy Perry of Loxley, AL.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff of Silsbee Convalescent Center for taking care of and loving our mother. You made her last days good days.
