RAYMOND “RAY” GONZALES

“Ray” Gonzales of Beaumont was born December 12, 1931 and passed on to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on July 29, 2004. Ray was born in San Antonio, Texas and resided in Beaumont for the past sixty-five years. He was a member of Templo Bautista Church in Beaumont.

Ray was an avid golf player and was known for his zest for the game wherever he played. He was a retired brick mason and former member of the bricklayers’ union. Ray was also a veteran of the U. S. Army, served his country in the Korean War, and was given an honorable discharge.

Ray was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by two daughters, Renee Byrd and husband Steve of Lumberton and Lisa Durso and husband Chris of Bridge City; granddaughters, Shanna Thurston and April Byrd, both of Lumberton and great granddaughter Kylee Thurston. He is also survived by two sisters, Rosemary Gonzales of Beaumont and

Emma Reyes of Houston; five brothers, Larry, Frank, Oscar and Johnny all of Houston and Don Gonzales of Beaumont.

Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment at R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery also in Silsbee. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Evangelist Sammy Fuentes of Corpus Christi will officiate the service.

I wanted to express my sympathy to your family on the passing on your father and grandfather. Im sure Raymond is already rejoicing in heaven with his famiy and friends. Raymond was a good and kind hearted person. He was always willing to help others when needed. Raymond will surely be missed by his family and friends. We will all miss his laughter. May God be with all family members at this time.
