Dear Kim and family, I was saddened to read of the loss of your father. I never got a chance to tell you that I knew so many good things about him although I never met him. My dad knew him and respected him so much that he told wonderful stories about George Thompson many times. In fact, in the last few years of his life, he spoke of Mr. Thompson more and more. I think Mr. Thompson's personal strength must have inspired him to keep going in the face of the complications of aging. Dale got to meet your dad just recently at the dealership where he works. When he came home from work that day, he immediately began telling me about the experience, at first just describing the tall man in a wheel chair who came to the dealership. I knew at once without ever having met Mr. Thompson that he was describing the man my dad had talked so much about. Dale got to tell Mr. Thompson about the great respect my dad had for him. I'm so glad he did. Dad would have appreciated that. We will keep your family in our thoughts knowing the difficulty you face in learning to live without your wonderful father. But I know it will give you great peace to remember how much he was admired by so many people in your community and even by people you've never known. With heartfelt sympathy, Bertie and Dale Standley
