MARION HUGH ALMOND

Marion Hugh Almond passed into Heaven on September 13, 2004 where he was reunited with his wife, Bobbie. He was born June 14, 1923 in Minden, LA and married Bobbie Weaver in 1947. Silsbee has been his home since 1954.

Funeral services for Mr. Almond will be held 10:00 am,Thursday, September 16, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Silsbee. A military graveside service will be conducted by the Southeast Texas Service Group at R S Farmer Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.

He was a loving and devoted parent to three children, Danny Almond of Plano, TX, Doug Almond of Beaumont and Debbie McInnis of Silsbee and is survived by his sister Sarah Minter of Minden, LA and Brother Pat Almond of Baton Rouge, LA. He was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Dusty and Megan McInnis, Amanda, Trent and Ashton Almond.

Marion was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie, parents Lafayette and Willie Mae Almond, Sister Camille Zachery and brothers, Edward, Laceyster, Joe, J.P. and Drew.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Silsbee. Marion was a decorated veteran of World War II. After being honorably discharged from the US Army, he moved to Silsbee as the manager of the local Morgan & Lindsey department store, which later became G C Murphy. He was currently working for Farmers Funeral Home.

Marion Almond will be remembered for being a loving person who always had time to pass along a smile, a hello and a warm handshake.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children Miracle Network, 3619 Professional Dr., Port Arthur, TX 77642, and phone (409) 983-5065.

Another member of the "village" that guided me in my youth has passed. God bless the family with the knowledge that His grace has taken care of Marion.
