JOHN “RICKY” JAY

John “Ricky” Jay, 54, of Silsbee, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born on January 4, 1950 in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a golf professional and greens keeper. He was employed as a supervisor of the athletic grounds for the Silsbee Independent School District at the time of his death. He loved to golf, fish, and spend time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Jay. He is survived by his wife, Ila; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and James McCormick of Cleveland, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Michelle Jay of Wells, Texas; mother, Millie A. Jay of San Antonio; brother and sister-in-law, David and Amanda Jay of Santa Fe, New Mexico and two grandsons, James Ray and Ryan McCormick.

The family will visit with friends at Farmers Funeral Home on Wednesday night from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A private family burial will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, family members would greatly appreciate memorial donations to the Silsbee Volunteer Fire Dept. P. O. Box 1155 Silsbee, Texas 77656.
