ROY IRVIN

YOUNGBLOOD SR.

Funeral services for Roy I. Youngblood, Sr., 87, of Houma, LA will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Interment will be in Fellowship Cemetery in Warren. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Wednesday morning at the funeral home.

Roy I. Youngblood, Sr. was born August 22, 1917 near Warren, Texas in Tyler County. He passed away October 10, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont from injuries incurred in an ATV accident. Roy lived eight days after the accident and passed away at 9:50 PM on October 10, 2004.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, of 48 years. He is survived by two sons, Roy Youngblood Jr., Glen Youngblood; and two daughters, Mary L. Siders and Jaunita Saunier, all of Houma, LA; two brothers, O.B. Youngblood of Buna and Dick Youngblood of Onalaska; one sister, Lillian Shorter of Longview; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In 1938, after graduating from Warren High School, Roy moved to Houma, LA and went to work for Texaco Oil Co. He served in the military in World War II from 1941 until 1945. He then went to work for a large construction company in Houma and was promoted to supervisor after just a short time, working locally and overseas. Mr. Youngblood retired and spent his time fishing and hunting deer and hogs back “home”, as he fondly called Warren. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Terrebonne Fellowship Lodge #481 in Houma, LA.
