Estha Lee Dalme Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1918 - 2004

Estha Lee Dalme Estha Lee Brumley Dalme, 85, was joyously welcomed into heaven on October 15, 2004. Estha was born December 14, 1918 to John D. and Tressie Brumley in Ouachita, Arkansas. The family later moved to Louisiana where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Math from the Louisiana State College in Natchitoches.

After she married, she and her husband, Herman Dalme, moved to Deer Park, TX where they were in the grocery business for many years. Estha was also a teacher for 15 years. She taught Jr. High English and Texas history in Deer Park, and Special Education classes in Pasadena. In the 1970’s they moved to the Beaumont area and owned the Town Motel in Nederland for several years. After the death of her husband in 1987, she moved to Lumberton, where she had lived for 17 years before moving to Collier Park in Beaumont for the past 2 years. Estha worked various jobs for Seniors through Programs for Human Services until the age of 83, when she suffered a stroke. She worked as an aide at the Lumberton Public Library, the Ice House Museum, Kirby Hill House and Texas Workforce. Family and friends will remember her for her dry wit and warm sense of humor. She was a determined, hard-working and gracious woman, always there for family when a need arose.

She is survived by her daughter, Herma Chandler and son-in-law Spencer Chandler of Lumberton; grandson Spence Chandler of Tiki Island; granddaughter, Christy Lloyd and husband Jeremy Lloyd of Bury St. Edmunds, England and great-granddaughter, Megan Emily Lloyd. Mrs. Dalme is also survived by her sister Joyce Kirkendall and husband Kenneth, of Lumberton and brother John Brumley Jr. and wife, Lucie, of Silsbee. Estha also has many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman L. Dalme, mother and father, John and Tressie Brumley, sister Evie Raggio, sister-in-law Norma Brumley and nephew John Kirkendall.

Pallbearers will be nephews Kirk Hartman, Chad Hartman, Matt McClusky, Andrew McClusky, Bert (Sonny) Carpenter, Jr. and Ron Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews Eric Raggio, Skeet Raggio, Clayton McWhirter and Peter Dembroski.

The family would like to sincerely thank the loving and caring staff at Collier Park and Southern Care Hospice for the wonderful attention, friendship, support and kindness shown to Estha and her family during this time.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee on Sunday, October 17, 2004. Visitation will be Saturday, October 16, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Herma, I'm so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I remember her so well! I lost my mom 2 years ago, and still I go to the phone to call her and tell her something funny that happened. It's something that you'll always carry with you, however, the good part is that there are so many, many happy times that will be there to remember too! My prayers are with you and your family. Love, Linda

I visited the site and the memorial was really nice. The picture of Mee Maw is exactly like I remember her. She hadn't aged much if that was a recent picture. I am informing Melissa of the site so she can see her, too. Our love.

Herma - Please accept our deepest condolences. There are no words to describe the loss of a mother and friend. After eleven years, I still want my mother to be the first to know any good or bad that happens in my life and I'm devastated anew every time I have to realize again that she is gone. Knowing she's in Heaven is, however, an enormous Blessing as it will be in your mother's case. Please know you'll be in our prayers. Cliff & Sandy

Herma Lou, It has been many years since I was at the Dalme grocery, butI have fond memories of your parents and how they took time with us "kids," and made it a welcome experinece we had enough money to go get a pice of candy!! I have often wondered what happen-ed to the Dalmes, they were an important part of DP!!-- God Bless and keep you all during this most difficult time.
