
MARGIE MILLS ANDERS
Margie Mills Anders was born in Sabine County on September 7, 1922 to the union of Clanty Delilah Thomas and Jim B. Mills. She was the fourth of five children.
Margie married Joe Anders on December 30, 1939. To this union six children were born. She worked most of her life as a nurse starting in San Augustine, later moving to Beaumont to the former Martin De Porres Unit of old Hotel Dieu Hospital. She became a nursing home administrator at Silsbee Convalescent Center for a number of years, and later at Canterbury Villa in Beaumont. She retired there in 1988.
Margie will always be remembered as a doer, a positive minded person who could always find a way to laugh. She was an extrovert, never meeting a stranger and was a true friend to those with whom she worked. Her life’s work was a career based on helping others.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe Anders, Sr.; sons, Terrell A. Anders and Joe Anders, Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Joe Ann Dorsett of Lubbock and Barbara Nell Jacobson and husband Bobby of Pearland. Also survived by sons Tommy Anders of Spurger, Jimmy Anders and wife Jackie of Kountze, Gerald Anders and wife Nancy of Kountze and David Anders and wife Sandra of Orange, one brother, James Mills of Center; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Jeff Jacobson, Malcolm Jacobson, Don Dorsett, Jim Anders, Jay Anders, Chris Anders, John Anders and Adam Anders.
Visitation will be Monday January 31 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee from 5 – 9 p.m.. Services will be 2:00 p.m Tuesday, February 1 at First Baptist Church in Kountze. Officiating will be Reverend Tony Thornton with burial at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze.
