Robert Levern Pender was born in St. Maurice, Louisiana on June 5, 1921 to William (Bill) and Henrietta Pender.
Mr. Pender was married to Mary Francis on April 19, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Pender moved his family to the Silsbee area in 1968 where he worked as a mechanic for Caraway Motor Co. He also worked for Kirby Forest Industries, Inc. for a time.
Mr. Pender served 26 years in the United States Army, retiring in 1968 as Chief Warrant Officer. He served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Mary A. Pender; sons, Robert Michael Pender and wife, Wanda, of Silsbee and Larry Sirianni and wife, Joy, of Princeville, Hawaii; brothers Columbus Ray Pender and Arthur G. Pender and sister Nell (Robbie) Jones, all of Silsbee; five grandchildren, Brad Woods, Kelli Pender, Mikayla Pender, Guy Sirianni and Mark Sirianni, and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was awarded his 50-year service pin and certificate last June at a special ceremony.
Funeral services for Mr. Pender will be conducted by Rev. Patrick Burks at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Interment will follow in Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze, where graveside services will be conducted by Silsbee Masonic Lodge 927 and East Texas Veterans Group. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at the funeral home.
