Funeral services for T. E. ‘Tommy’ Alford, 87, of Centennial, Colorado, formerly of Silsbee, will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Buna. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Alford died at his residence in Colorado March 7, 2005.

He was a native of Geneva, TX and a lifelong resident of Silsbee. He had lived in Centennial, CO for the last several months.

Mr. Alford was owner and operator of Alford’s Furniture and Hardware and Alford’s Laundromat.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn, of Houston and three children, Janice Matar of Houston, Joan Sullivan of Centennial, CO and Dr. Glen Alford of Wilkesboro, NC. Five grandchildren, Dr. Chris Russell, Leila Moujaes, Michael Matar, Jason Alford and Laurie Holguin also survive him.

Another member of the "village that raised me" is gone. Mr. Alford (I knew his name was Tommy, but being much younger, I wasn't allowed to call him by his given name) will be missed. My prayers are with the family.
