CARLTON DAVID GARRETT
Funeral services for Carlton David Garrett of Silsbee will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2005 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with Dave Collier officiating. Interment will follow at R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday March 27, 2005 from 5 – 8 p.m.
Mr. Garrett died March 24, 2005 at Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont.
He was born August 26, 1921 in Cleburne, TX. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Pacific. Mr. Garrett was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for forty years. In 1985 he retired as District Supervisor.
Carlton had lived in Silsbee for 37 years and was active in community affairs. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce, The Community Center and Kiwanis. He served as chairman of the Public Responsibility Committee in Lufkin. He was also president of the Silsbee ARC. He was voted Silsbee’s Outstanding Citizen in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents Barnett and Mattie Garrett and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife June, son David, Daughter Carla Gallaspy and husband David, grandson Adam Gallaspy and wife Catina, and great grandson Colby.
