Funeral services for Peter Petroelje, 90, of Silsbee, will be 10:00 Wednesday May 11, 2005 at First United Methodist Church, 670 N. 5th St., Silsbee, with interment at R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at Farmer Funeral Home, 415 N. 4th St., Silsbee.
Mr. Petroelje died from prostate cancer on Sunday, May 8 at Morningside Manor in San Antonio, only 10 days after leaving his home of 26 years in Silsbee.
He was a native of Zeeland, MI and spent his adult life in Holland, MI before moving to Silsbee. In Holland, as a carpenter for Elzinga & Volkers Construction Company, he helped construct many public buildings, including Holland Civic Center and Western Theological Seminary. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Martha Petroelje of Silsbee; his daughter, Karen Stamm of San Antonio; grandson, Alex Stamm of San Antonio; brother Jason Petroelje of Holland, MI; sister Angie Patterson of Arlington Heights, IL; niece Mrs. Adam Smith of Holland, MI and nephews, Eric Petroelje of Holland, MI, Mark Patterson of Arlington Heights, IL and Bill Patterson of Greenville, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Silsbee, TX.
Family and friends will remember Mr. Petroelje for his loving devotion generosity, tolerance, positive outlook, good humor, patience, skill, industriousness, resourcefulness and uncommon sense.
