Lenox  Hawthorne Sr. Funeral services for Lenox Hawthorne Sr., 80, of Silsbee are 3:00 pm Saturday, May 14, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Silsbee. Interment will follow in R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hawthorne died May 12, 2005 at Silsbee Convalescent Center.

A native of Kirbyville, he was a longtime resident of Silsbee. Lenox was a Ford dealer and worked for Silsbee Auto Company until retirement. He was a US Army veteran serving during WWII. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church in Silsbee and had been a member since 1952 and served as chairman of the building committee. Mr. Hawthorne was a bailiff for Judge Stover, a member of the Lions Club and city council member. He was a bank director of First National Bank.

Mr. Hawthorne was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Ola Hawthorne; sister Selma Fairchild; brothers, Frank C. Hawthorne, Walter Valton Hawthorne and Don Lee Hawthorne.

Surviving him are his wife, Lois “Billie” Oah Hawthorne of Silsbee; sons Lenox Hawthorne Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Silsbee, Jesse Walter Hawthorne and wife, Sharon of Henderson and Richard Timothy Hawthorne and wife, Sherry of Nacogdoches; sister Winona Lumpkin of Tomball; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Richard and family, and especially Jason, my thoughts are with you all at this time. I didn't know Mr. Hawthorne, but I did know Richard (as school principle) and Jason (as Margie's best friend). Please accept my condolences in your loss. Barbara

My prayers are with the family. Lenox was a community leader and will long be remembered for his contributions to the Silsbee area.
