
Alton Davenport, 81, of Silsbee entered into rest on Sunday, May 22, 2005 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services for Mr. Davenport will be at 2 pm Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Davenport was a native of Groveton, TX and a lifelong resident of Silsbee. He was a Park Host at Sandy Creek Park on Dam B and an Army veteran serving in World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Claudine Davenport; one daughter, Altonette Shannon and husband, Keith, of Buna; two step-daughters, Margaret Clayton of Silsbee and Patsy Lewis and husband, Jack, of Newton; three sons, Eddie Wayne Davenport and wife, Jeannie, of Lovelady, Ronald Davenport and wife, Debbie of Crockett and Dennis Davenport and wife, Marsha, of Conroe; two step-sons, Henry Swearingen and wife, Marcella, of Roganville and Marvin Swearingen of Kirbyville. He is also survived by a brother, John Davenport of Houston; sister Louise Pryor and husband, Fred, of Onalaska and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
