Graveside services for Irene Elizabeth “Sis” Martin, 83, of Texas City will be 11:00 am Saturday at Mt. Herman Cemetery in Center under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Visitation will be 4 pm – 9 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
Irene “Sis” Martin passed away on July 6, 2005 in Texas City, Texas. She was born on February 10, 1922 in Shelby County, Texas. She was the daughter of Rufus and Ora Martin. Irene attended school in Walnut Grove and later moved to Silsbee. Irene then moved to Dilly, Texas where she worked as a contractor. She moved back to Silsbee and lived there until 2004.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Alton, Delton, Ed and Hoyt Martin and sister Gladys Dogette.
She is survived by her sister Lola Choate of Dickinson, Texas; nephew Rufus Choate and his wife Alma of Alvin, Texas; niece Pauline Alexander of Dickinson, Texas and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
She will be missed but will live on through the great memories we have of her.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
