Funeral services for Leon C. Avery, 81, of Silsbee will be 2:00 pm Sunday at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery in Silsbee. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Avery died Friday, October 28, 2005 at his residence in Silsbee.
Leon was born in Tenaha and was a longtime resident of Silsbee. He worked as an electrician and was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII. Leon was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Buna. He was a mason with the Tenaha Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and a member of the Civil Air Patrol in Silsbee.
Survivors include his wife Culie Faye Husbands Avery of Silsbee; sons Lloyd W. Avery and wife Donna of Buna and Richard Avery of Silsbee; grandchildren Stephen Avery of Silsbee, Amber Avery Smith and husband Wayne of Buna, Jason Avery of Denton, Andrea Avery of Sunland, California and Jessica Avery of Austin; great grandchildren Karli Nicole Smith and Zaryn Taylor Smith; sister Nell Mangrum of Pasadena and brother Edd (Doc) Avery of Lumberton.
