MELVIN RIVERS
Funeral services for Melvin Rivers, 71, of Silsbee will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment to follow at Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile, TX. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Melvin Rivers went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 5, 2005 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Born in Zwolle, LA, he was a longtime Silsbee resident. Melvin was a retired gas tester for ARCO Oil and Gas Company and had proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict as a postal clerk. Melvin was a longtime member of Woodrow Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle and a dear friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife Josephine Shurptine Rivers of Silsbee; brother Andrew Rivers of Silsbee; sister Clara Garcia of Zwolle, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.
