Polk  Hawthorne, Jr.Funeral services for Polk Hawthorne, Jr., 83, of Silsbee are 2:00 pm Monday at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in Zion Hill Cemetery in Jasper. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hawthorne died February 3, 2006 at Pine Arbor Health Care in Silsbee.

A native of Roganville, Mr. Hawthorne was a longtime resident of this area. He was a retired guard from Texaco and was a farmer. Polk was also a retired bus driver from Silsbee ISD and proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII.

Mr. Hawthorne is survived by two sons and daughters-in-laws, Rickey and Wanda Hawthorne of Buna and Larry and Debbie Hawthorne of Kirbyville; daughter and son-in-law Judy and Roy Hernandez, Jr. of Nederland; sister Marcelle Conlin of Longview; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

POLK WAS A GREAT MAN. HE HAD SUCH A SWEET DEMENOR AND DISPOSITION. KIND TO TO EVEN THE LITTLEST ONE IN THE ROOM. I'LL NEVER FORGET HIM SETTING AROUND THE FIRE WITH HIS COWBOY HAT ON AND A CIGAR IN HIS TEETH. HE WAS A SWEET HEART AND WE WILL MISS HIM AT LEE FAMILY FUNCTIONS. WE WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOU AND YOU FAMILY IN THIS TIME OF PROFOUND LOSS.GOD BLEES YOU ALL. LARRY,TERRY AND KENDALL LEE
