Charles Ray Gilbert Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1942 - 2008 Charles Ray Gilbert born June 7, 1942 stepped out of this life and into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 19, 2008. He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Jeanne Gilbert of Evadale, Texas; children Charlyn Black and husband Trampus of Jacksonville, Texas, Shellee Powell and husband Wes of Fort Worth, Joe Gilbert of Jacksonville, Texas, James Gilbert and wife Leigh of Fort Worth; brother Carl Gilbert and wife Vesta of Houston; sister Doris Baker and husband Sterlin of Houston; Bonus children Buddy and Carrie Cowart of Silsbee; a legacy of over twenty grandchildren, three great grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews. Charles was a wonderful husband, loving father and the greatest Paw. He served in the Army and recently retired from Mead Westvaco after 41 years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, serving others but most of all, spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed. Funeral service for Charles will be10:00 am Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Central Baptist Church in Evadale with interment following in R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery in Silsbee under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2008, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the church.

I can not even began to say how sorry I am for the loss of Charlie. What an awesome, God fearing man. Charlie taught me years ago in a Sunday school class that where two or more are gathered in His name, He would be there. In his living he taught me Gods love and now in his dying he teaches me to not wait to share with those we love. God bless! Cathy Cowart Humphrey
