
Funeral services for Eunice Lomer Gore, 84, of Lumberton will be 10:00 am Monday, August 10, 2009 at Farmer Funeral Home with Reverend Van Lowe of Burkeville, Texas officiating. Interment will follow at Cunningham Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Eunice was born April 17, 1925 to Rod Isaac Gore and Cynthia Whittaker Gore. He died August 6, 2009 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
A native of Silsbee he was an early resident of the Caney Head community. He married his wife Dolly Hale June 16, 1949 and moved to Lumberton where he was a longtime resident. Eunice proudly served his country with the US Army for two years from 1943 to 1945. He retired from Bethlehem Steel with 33 years of service as a pipefitter.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife. Survivors include daughter Ginger Powell and husband Terry of Lumberton; surrogate daughter Vivian (Susie) Rashall and husband Norman of Nederland; son Michael Douglas Gore and wife Edith of Knappa, Oregon; granddaughters Melissa Gore of Knappa, Oregon and Mahina Powell of Arkansas City, Arkansas; grandsons Captain Kevin Phillips of Lumberton and Michael Daniel Gore of Knappa, Oregon; and numerous other relatives, neighbors and friends.
Pallbearers will be Michael Douglas Gore, Michael Daniel Gore, Gary Michael Rashall I, Gary Michael Rashall II, Larry Michael Smith and Michael McKinzey Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Eason, Robert Eason, Jerry Eason, Lester Hollyfield and surrogate daughter Vivian Rashall.
